Help Center

How much will 1 yard cover?

One cubic yard (topsoil, sand, mulch) will cover 100 square feet at 3 inches deep.

How much topsoil is needed for grass to grow?

Grass roots can grow as long as 4"-6". A 3"layer of non-pulverized topsoil, followed by 2"-3" of our pulverized topsoil will give grass seeds a beautiful bed to grow in.

How deep should my mulch be?

When applying mulch to a new area, 3 inches of depth should give you adequate coverage.

What if it's raining on the day of my delivery?

Mulch, sand and gravel can be delivered in the rain. Topsoil and fill deliveries will usually need to be rescheduled. If there is inclement weather in the forecast, we recommend covering your material, especially pulverized topsoil and garden blend.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my order?

We understand that things change. If a delivery needs to be rescheduled or cancelled, contact us and we will adjust your order as needed.

Will you drive on lawns?

Driving onto lawns or soft areas is always a risk. The driver will assess the situation, and use his or her best judgement to decide if it's a safe place to dump. If it's dry enough and flat enough, we should have no problem getting your product as close to where you want it (considering we have clearance all around the vehicle).

Please keep in mind that the weight of the trucks will cause wheel marks on lawns and possibly rut marks. These are usually minimal and disappear over time. Larsen Materials is not responsible for damage to lawns when customer requests we drive on them.

Larsen Materials has the right to refuse a delivery if the site appears to be unsafe in any way.

Can your trucks crack my driveway?

There is always a risk of damage to driveways when driving heavy equipment or vehicles on it. The risk is small and has been mostly avoided in our experience. Driving over the edge of a driveway increases this risk. Driving on a newly paved concrete or asphalt driveway increases the risk of damage. It takes at least 30 days for new driveways to fully cure.

Larsen Materials is not responsible for damage to asphalt or concrete areas where we have been permitted to drive.

Larsen Materials has the right to refuse any delivery if the site appears to be unsafe in any way.

Are there weed seeds in your dirt?

We cannot guarantee a weed free product. Our soil is not tested or pre-treated. It is up to the customer to treat for weeds if desired. Do not apply weed control until after grass has been established.

Is there clay in your topsoil?

When stripping topsoil from the earth, the excavator may scrape into the next layer which is clay. We do our best to avoid going too deep but on occasion, clay may get into our topsoil. We use a 3/4" screen to filter out large chunks of clay, rocks and other unwanted materials.
